Alinea is three different booking decisions. The Salon has individual tables and a shorter format; the Gallery and Kitchen Table allow more time for the experience.

A useful budget for two

At the listed prices, two Salon menus cost $750 to $790 before charges. Two Gallery or Kitchen Table menus cost $990. Applying the restaurant's published 20% service charge to food gives $900 to $948 for the Salon or $1,188 for the other formats, before tax and drinks.

The FAQ lists a $195 standard wine pairing per person. For two Gallery guests, food plus those pairings is $1,380; adding 20% service brings the subtotal to $1,656 before tax. This is our arithmetic, not a checkout quote. Menu prices; Pairing prices and charges.

When and how to book

Bookings typically open on the 15th at 11 a.m. Central Time, about two months ahead. Sales are non-refundable; the FAQ allows rescheduling within the calendar year with at least 72 hours' notice. Check the reservation FAQ.

Before paying, compare the experience name, date, party size and full checkout amount. Save the confirmation and check that it appears in your Tock account. For a trip built around this meal, secure dinner before committing to a tightly timed itinerary. Availability in a search result is not a confirmed reservation.

Dietary needs, stairs and dress

Alinea asks for at least 72 hours' notice for supported dietary changes. Egg and dairy cannot be omitted, and the restaurant cannot accommodate allergies triggered by cross-contamination. Its dress guidance is elevated casual; jackets are optional. Read the full restrictions and visitor policies.

For step-free access, resolve the room choice before purchase because the Salon listing specifies stairs. Email [email protected] with your needs and proposed experience. Ask for confirmation rather than assuming that an accommodation available in one room also applies to another.

Is this the right special-occasion booking?

The restaurant's own introduction describes Grant Achatz's modernist tasting-menu approach. Our planning view is that the choice of format matters more than trying to predict individual dishes from older photographs. Book for the current experience description and leave room for the menu to change.

The address is 1723 N. Halsted Street in Lincoln Park. Keep the Gallery or Kitchen Table evening clear after dinner. For a different format, compare Kasama's Filipino tasting menu or Oriole's dining room and kitchen tables. Each guide separates menu cost from the rest of the bill.
